SESC Pompeia Side Chairs in Pine by Lina Bo Bardi, 1980s

SESC Stools/Side Chairs by Lina Bo Bardi, Marcelo Ferraz & Marcelo Suzuki. Crafted for the iconic SESC Pompeia cultural center in São Paulo.

This rare pine stool embodies the visionary spirit of architect Lina Bo Bardi and collaborators Marcelo Ferraz and Marcelo Suzuki. Defined by minimalist lines and a signature notched backrest, each piece reflects the democratic design ethos at the heart of the project. The visible wear on the wood serves not only as a mark of authenticity but as a testament to their role in one of Brazil’s most dynamic public spaces. A true collector’s item for admirers of modernist Brazilian design. This is an early original edition. Not reissued. Designed by Lina Bo Bardi, Sesc Pompeia was elected in 2021 as one of the 25 most important post-war architectural works by The New York Times. The building works with a theater, exhibition space, auditorium, and open spaces that give breathing room in an agitated metropolis. The stools were part of the living areas, such as the dining hall and the library.
