Rosa Dei Venti Table by Mario Ceroli for Poltronova, 1970s

Rare “Rosa dei Venti” dining table, designed by Mario Ceroli for Poltronova in the 1970s.

Executed in solid pine with contrasting walnut inlays, the large circular top is composed as an elaborate compass rose. The cardinal directions N, E, S and O are set into the outer edge, while the different directions of the wood grain emphasize the strong radial geometry of the design.

The remarkable base is equally elaborate, built from numerous individually cut and layered pine elements forming two opposing hemispherical structures. Its exposed construction and almost architectural quality are typical of Ceroli’s work from this period. This example does not carry a visible Poltronova or Ceroli mark. Early examples of the model are known both with and without visible markings, and variations in execution and materials are documented.

Condition:

In very good vintage condition.  Wear consistant with age and use.
