Set of 2 ‘Sphere’ chairs by Boris Tabacoff for MMM, 1970s

Set of beautiful and rare ’Sphere’ lounge chairs. Designed by Boris Tabacoff in 1971. Manufactured by the French MMM. factory (Mobilier Modular Moderne) These chairs have a characteristic brown lucite shell which holds a thick cushion. The cushion is reupholstered in a high quality taupe wool fabric. The shell is held by a heavy circular base made of chromed metal.

Boris Tabacoff designed multiple space age designs in the 70s for mobilier modulaire moderne. What distinguished tabacoff designs from other space age designs. is his free standing (floating) shell. Because of the low production numbers of Tabacoff chairs, these items are very well sought after.

In a very good condition. New fabric. Shells have signs of use.
